Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 9, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the LibriWavemobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions provided by UMD Lab("we", "our", or "us"). If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please discontinue use and uninstall the application immediately.

2. Description of LibriWave Service

LibriWave is an independent catalog reader and audio player application developed to allow users to discover and stream audiobook recordings on compatible mobile devices.

LibriWave is provided for lawful use. Users are responsible for complying with applicable copyright, licensing, and other laws when accessing or using content through the application.

3. Accountless Service & Local Device Storage

LibriWave operates without requiring user accounts, registrations, passwords, or cloud logins. All bookmarks, listening history, custom playlists, and application preferences are maintained solely within your device's local storage sandbox. You are solely responsible for managing your local device storage. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app permanently removes all local listening data.

4. Audio Streaming & No Download Feature

LibriWave is currently an online streaming player. Audio recordings are streamed on demand over an active internet connection.

Notice: LibriWave does NOT currently support downloading audiobooks, offline playback, or saving audio files to local storage. Audio tracks are delivered via live streaming and cannot be permanently stored on your device through the application.

5. Network Connectivity & Carrier Data Charges

Audio streaming requires an active Internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular mobile data). Streaming audio over cellular networks may consume significant bandwidth. You are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining network access and for all carrier data charges, mobile bandwidth costs, or roaming fees billed by your wireless carrier or Internet service provider.

6. Content Rights & Public Domain Information

LibriWave provides access to audiobook recordings and catalog information obtained from applicable sources, including LibriVox and, where applicable, the Internet Archive. LibriWave primarily provides access to audiobook recordings identified as public-domain recordings according to the applicable source and rights information available to us.

Rights information can vary by source. The copyright status of underlying literary works, translations, adaptations, and editions can vary significantly by country or jurisdiction. In particular, the duration of copyright protection differs internationally (such as terms based on the author's life plus a specific number of years). Availability of an item through an external source or host does not automatically guarantee universal public-domain status in all jurisdictions.

Users accessing LibriWave are responsible for complying with applicable copyright, licensing, and other laws in their respective countries. UMD Lab claims no copyright or proprietary ownership over any underlying literary works, volunteer audio recordings, or external media cataloged within the application.

7. Third-Party Services & Independence

LibriWave is an independently engineered product developed by UMD Lab. LibriWave is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated in partnership with LibriVox or the Internet Archive.

LibriWave relies on external services and public sources (such as the Internet Archive, Supabase, and LibriVox) for catalog data, search capabilities, and audio streaming delivery. LibriWave does not own, manage, or control these third-party services and cannot guarantee their uninterrupted availability, performance, or content persistence.

8. Copyright Inquiries & DMCA Takedown Liaison

We respect intellectual property rights. If you are a copyright owner or authorized legal representative and believe that any audiobook catalog entry accessible through LibriWave infringes upon your copyright under applicable laws, please notify our designated liaison with:

  • The specific title and author of the work
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
  • Evidence of copyright ownership or legal authorization
  • Your contact information (name, address, telephone, email)

Upon receiving a valid notification, we will investigate and remove the catalog entry from our indexing service.

9. Application Intellectual Property

All software source code, interface designs, visual layouts, branding elements, graphics, icons, custom styling, and animations developed for LibriWave are the proprietary intellectual property of UMD Lab and are protected by applicable intellectual property and software copyright laws.

10. Acceptable Use & User Restrictions

You agree to use LibriWave only for lawful purposes. You agree NOT to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive source code from the application
  • Attempt to scrape, overload, or disrupt backend catalog APIs or third-party streaming servers
  • Circumvent or tamper with application security features or network rate limits
  • Use the application to transmit malicious code, bots, or unauthorized automated requests

11. Service Availability & Disclaimer of Warranties

Streaming requires an active internet connection. Services may occasionally be unavailable, external sources may change, and performance may vary based on your network conditions. LibriWave cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.

THE APPLICATION AND ALL STREAMED CONTENT ARE PROVIDED STRICTLY ON AN "AS IS" AND"AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, UMD LAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, DEVICE DAMAGE, OR NETWORK CHARGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION.

13. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms & Conditions periodically. The current version will always be published on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of LibriWave after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
